Sheriff’s Sales

The Sheriff’s Sale Department is divided into 2 areas: seizure and sale, and garnishments.

This Department seizes movable and immovable property under the direction of the 16th Judicial District Court.

Specific information pertaining to Sheriff’s sales may also be found in the legal section of the official journal of St. Martin Parish (The Teche News) on Wednesdays, — 10 days prior to each sale for movable properties; 30 days and 7 days prior to the sale for immovable properties.

Sheriff’s sales of both movable and immovable property occur every Wednesday morning (excluding holidays) at 11:00 A.M. The sales are located in the Conference room at the St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office, 400 St. Martin Street, St. Martinville, LA 70582.

Bidding is open to all persons. A Letter of Credit and/or Cashier’s Check should be provided to the Sales & Seizures Deputy when the successful bid is announced, along with the name of the successful bidder, address, and contact phone number. If a Letter of Credit is provided, you will be required to return by 3:00 p.m. the day of the Sale with payment in the form of a Cashier’s Check.

No questions will be addressed during the Sheriff’s Sales. If you have questions, please contact the Sales & Seizures Department prior to the sale at 337-394-2530 or 337-394-2581 during office hours. (Monday thru Friday 7:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.)
