Sheriff Becket T. Breaux, a respected public servant with an impressive career in law enforcement extending over three decades, is the current Sheriff of St. Martin Parish. Elected by a substantial majority of 60.34% on October 12, 2019, Sheriff Breaux has consistently demonstrated his commitment to justice, safety, and the well-being of his community.

Born and raised in St. Martin Parish, Sheriff Breaux graduated from St. Martinville Senior High School and embarked on his law enforcement career at just 17 with the Parks Police Department. His steadfast dedication to public safety led him to a prolific career with the Louisiana State Police.

Balancing his professional duties with his academic pursuits, Sheriff Breaux earned a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice from Louisiana State University at Alexandria. Demonstrating his commitment to continuous learning and improvement, he further expanded his knowledge base by obtaining a master’s degree in Business Administration from Louisiana State University in Shreveport in 2022.

Throughout his career, Sheriff Breaux has sought out diverse and rigorous training opportunities. His effort culminated in numerous specialized training certifications, including a prestigious accolade from the Federal Bureau of Investigation Academy in Quantico, Virginia.

Sheriff Breaux has dedicated not only his life to public service but also to his family. He has been married to his wife, Kim, since 1992, and they share the joy of parenting their two beautiful daughters.
