Tax Collection
The Saint Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office collects property taxes for numerous taxing districts throughout the parish, including city/town taxes. Taxes are collected according to the tax assessment roll prepared by the tax assessor.
Taxes may be paid by one of the following options:

Current year taxes are due by December 31st of that year (post mark date accepted). Taxes are subject to interest and costs if not paid by January 31st.
Any delinquent account is subject to be sold at the annual tax sale which is usually held in June. Your property will be advertised in the official journal, Teche News, twice before the tax sale …… the first in mid-April and the second within one week prior to the tax sale. The tax sale is held in the front lobby of the Sheriff’s Office at 400 Saint Martin Street, Saint Martinville, Louisiana. For property sold at tax sale, the original owner (tax debtor) has three years from the date of recordation of the sale to redeem the property. Redemption costs are calculated and collected by the Sheriff’s Office tax collector.
