The St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office is determined to keep this parish a safe place to live, work, and raise a family. One of the keys to achieving this is to combat illegal drug abuse. Illegal drugs are responsible for a growing number of today’s societal ills. Many of today’s illegal drugs are designed to “hook” a person into repetitive use. Unfortunately, in today’s world, these addicts are committing more brazen crimes in order to feed their addiction, and we are all paying the price.
An even more growing problem is the abuse of prescription medication. Most people have no idea how potent or addictive some medications in their medicine cabinet are. Education and the securing of medications are key to combating this type of abuse.
The St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office has established a very active Narcotics Division. If you have information on any illegal drug activity, please call us at 337-394-3071 or you may alsoreport a crime.
Drug Abuse Education In an effort to better educate the citizens of this parish of the dangers of drug abuse, we offer several links on the effects of drugs on the human body, a listing of controlled substances and the dangers imposed by each, brochures on a variety of drug abuse topics sponsored by the National Drug Intelligence Center, and a listing of Drug Abuse Prevention Centers and contacts.
