Applications for the Louisiana Sheriff's Association Educationsal Scholarship Program are distributed to each of the High Schools in Saint Martin Parish in February.
  • The Louisiana Sheriff's Association Educational Scholarship Program awards a scholarship to a graduating high school student where the Sheriffs are members of the Louisiana Sheriff's Honorary Membership Program. The goal of the program is to provide assistance to worthy Louisiana students in furthering their education and training with resources made available through the program. The scholarship is given to a graduating high school senior (must be a resident of Saint Martin Parish) in the amount of $500.00. Applications are available beginning in February and completed applications must be submitted to the Saint Martin Parish Sheriff's Office by April 1st. Applications for the Ronald J. Theriot Scholarship Program are distributed to each of the High Schools in Saint Martin Parish in March.

  • The Ronald J. Theriot Scholarship Program: This year, Sheriff Ronald J. Theriot will be awarding three $1,000.00 college scholarships to three outstanding High School Seniors who reside in St. Martin Parish. One $1,000.00 scholarship will be awarded to one student from each of the following high schools in St. Martin Parish; Breaux Bridge Senior High School, St. Martinville Senior High School, and Cecilia Senior High School. Applications will be delivered to school counselors at the schools and they will also be available at the St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office located at 400 St. Martin Street in St. Martinville, and at the CID Office located at 1815 Terrace Hwy in St. Martinville. Anyone wishing to have an application mailed to them can do so by calling Major Ginny Higgins at (337) 394-2619. 

Criteria for Applying for the Ronald J. Theriot Scholarship is as follows:

Criteria for applying for the Ronald J. Theriot Scholarship is as follows:
  • Student applicant must be a resident of St. Martin Parish
  • Must be a graduating Senior from Breaux Bridge Senior High School, St. Martinville Senior High School, or Cecilia Senior High School.
  • The student must plan to be enrolled as a full-time, undergraduate student for the Fall Semester of the current year.
  • The applicant must show a financial need by providing a copy of their parent’s Tax Return Form.

The application must be completely filled out and have all the required documents attached at the time of submission. This scholarship is being offered to help the student meet the costs associated with higher education. Completed applications may be mailed to:

 Applications must be completed by May 1. A committee of non-partisan citizens will review, evaluate, and select a winner and an alternate from each school listed above. The names of the winners of the  Ronald J. Theriot Scholarship will be announced by May 31.
