(St. Martinville, LA)-Last week, all St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office Employees received “Keeping The Peace” Diversity Training. Ms. Katerina Tate, with Diversity Builder, Inc., presented on various topics of diversity such as; valuing diversity in the community, recognizing and resolving bias, and inclusive communication within our communities. Small group activities as well as group discussions were held throughout the training. Officers with the Opelousas Police Department and the New Iberia Police Department were also in attendance.
Sheriff Becket Breaux made this training a priority to be able to provide awareness to St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office Employees regarding biases both in the workplace and in our communities. Being mindful about our actions and our attitudes are two of the benefits received from this training.
We will continue to stay abreast of what’s occurring in both our workplace and our community to best serve the residents of St. Martin Parish.
