Victim Of Wednesday Afternoon’s Shooting Identified-Information Being Sought Regarding Shooting

(St. Martinville, LA.)-The victim of the shooting that occurred yesterday afternoon in St. Martinville has been identified as Carey Lewis III, 19, St. Martinville, LA. Following a report of a disabled vehicle in the roadway, Deputies with the St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office located Carey Lewis in a vehicle in the 5000 block of Main Hwy., shortly after 3:30 p.m.

Upon further investigation, Deputies determined that he had suffered a gunshot wound. He was subsequently transported to a local hospital where he remains in serious condition. Prior to Deputies arrival, it was determined that an unknown male passenger in Lewis’ vehicle, entered a brown Chevrolet truck and fled the scene. Shortly thereafter, the unknown male was seen exiting the brown truck and entering into a second vehicle, a blue Mazda or Kia, near Popeye’s in St. Martinville and continued traveling on Main Hwy., towards the St. Martinville area.

The investigation remains ongoing and Investigators with the St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office are asking for anyone who may have information in reference to this incident to please contact them at (337) 394-3071.
