Tennessee Woman Drowns Following Early Morning Car Crash

Near The Butte Larose Welcome Center

(St. Martinville, LA.)-At 3:33 a.m. this morning, Deputies with the St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a car crash at the boat landing near the Butte Larose Welcome Center in the 1900 block of Atchafalaya River Hwy. Upon arrival Deputies discovered that a vehicle containing four occupants had entered the water next to the boat launch. Three of the occupants, two children and one adult were able to safely escape the vehicle, however one occupant, Antrineka Wilson, 27, Memphis, Tennessee, was unable to exit the vehicle and died as a result of drowning. The remaining three occupants of vehicle were transported to a local hospital and all were reported to be in good condition.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation and no further information is available at this time.
