Breaux Bridge Man Arrested on Several Narcotics Charges - 2/22/2018 -

Breaux Bridge Man Arrested on Several Narcotics Charges

(St. Martinville, LA.)-On Wednesday afternoon, February 21, 2018, Narcotics Agents with the St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office conducted a surveillance operation in the Breaux Bridge area of St. Martin Parish. During the operation Narcotics Agents subsequently observed a suspicious vehicle and after checking on the registration information, they learned that the vehicle had been reported stolen out of Lafayette, LA.

St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Agents along with the assistance of the Breaux Bridge Police Department, initiated a traffic stop on the stolen vehicle. Following a brief pursuit, the vehicle was stopped in the 700 block of E. Bridge Street and the driver was taken into custody without incident.

The driver, Dakevon Jean-Batiste, age 21, of Breaux Bridge, LA., was found in possession of a significant amount of crystal methamphetamine, marijuana and U.S. currency. He was booked into the St. Martin Parish Correctional Center on the following charges:

La.R.S. 40:967A(1) Possession with Intent to Distribute Schedule II CDS (Methamphetamine)

La.R.S. 40:966E Possession of Marijuana

La.R.S. 40:1041 Transactions involving proceeds from drug offenses

La.R.S. 40:981.3 Violation of uniform CDS law; drug free zone (8 counts)

La.R.S. 14:26 Criminal Conspiracy (3 counts)

He also faces an additional charge with the Breaux Bridge Police Department for possession of a stolen vehicle.

Following his arrest, he was booked into the St. Martin Parish Correctional Center on the above charges and at the time of this release, no bond had been set.
